Welcome to Model Plane Foam!

Model Plane Foam is extruded Polystyrene foam, Nominally 6mm thick (just under 1/4") 24” by 48” sheets. It’s 2Lb/cu ft density & pure white.  Last year, when I attempted to place an order for more foam, the manufacturer told me they weren't going to produce it anymore, but I was able to get a limited amount of foam they still had on hand.  I have now sold out of the A grade and B grade foam.  I still have adequate supplies of what I'm now calling C grade.  While these sheets do not exhibit the lack of waves that A grade did, They are still the same tough, durable pure white extruded styrofoam.  Many folk have told me that they find C grade fine for their builds, especially those who sand the plane to final shape.  Sanding removes all the small surface texture and leaves a smooth fine cell surface.  C grade sheets have at least one wave running the long direction, and the wave is most prominent on only one side, so will need some care in arranging the parts on the sheet as well as mirroring right and left hand parts to put the wave "inside".  It does have A grade surface finish however, not the rough texture of B grade.  I have now have 8 and 16 sheet boxes available.  See them on the foam page.  An additional note:  I can fit the full length sheet (~48") into the 8 sheet boxes, but must trim an inch off the sheets (~47") and box for the full size box of each foam type to reduce shipping cost add-ons of up to $20/ box. So if you don't need a lot of foam, and want the full length sheets, get an 8 sheet box.  I'll be selling these along with the CF and Wire until it's all gone.
